Holdin' It Down On Tha Street #2

Posted on Sat 17th Mar, 2007, 11:25pm

ISO: 400, Shutter speed: 1/40, Aperture: f/1.4,
Camera: Canon EOS 20D, Flash: None, Cropping: None,
Lens: Canon EF 35mm f/1.4L, Focal length: 35mm,
Captured: 15th March 2007, 6:21pm,

This was taken in almost exactly the same location as this one (which, looking back, is becoming one of my favourite shots) but is clearly a different, more contextualised take on the scene.

I couldn't tell you what it is about photos like this that appeals to me but something inside me makes me want to shoto them. It's the closest I get to being on photographic autopilot.

Nice one. I like photos like this. I am curious what that is between the row of 4 cones..

Nice shot Jamey. I really like how the blue pops on the sign.

Nice, "urban" tones. What does the sign say??

I like the white track from a car or something leading you into the shot, I was thinking of getting out and doing some images like this in Blackpool soon as there is a lot of construction work going on with the regeneration project.

It is the lighting in these shots that attracts my attention. It is a very pleasing balance between articial and ambient light.

I think Bob's hit the nail on the head with this.

Unusual shot but still very pleasing. I think it's just the right time of day lighting wise. The sky isn't completely black but the streetlights are giving everything an orange glow. It gives a nice range of tones as well as there being plenty of detail to keep you interested.
