Title:
...And A Happy New Year

Scampi

Posted on Fri 23rd Dec, 2005, 7:51pm

ISO: 100, Shutter speed: 1/60, Aperture: f/8,
Camera: Canon EOS 20D, Flash: Bounced, Cropping: 2/3,
Lens: Sigma 18-50mm F2.8 EX DC, Focal length: 33mm,
Captured: 23rd December 2005, 6:28pm,

Ok, let's get the obvious thing out the way first - you're probably wondering what's up with her eye. Well basically the vets don't know. It's a weepy eye. We just have to keep cleaning it and that's that really.

I took this shot just as a test for my new flashgun and it came out much nicer than I thought it would. I was trying to get a more even balance of light but I'm quite glad that it turned out this way.

If anyone else is wondering whether external flashguns are worthwhile, the answer is yes. Definitely yes. Being able to bounce the flash makes such a huge difference.

My cat had a weepy eye earlier this year- it cleared up on its own after a few months. Well contolled flash there Jamey

Scampi's eye has been like this for years. She's even had an operation (back when the vets thought they had it sussed) but nothing cures it. And I wish I could take credit for the flash control but it was a bit of a lucky one really.

My cat Baggy gets this too. The idiot vet did a pointless 'operation', the next vet said it was a virus and gave us drops. Money down and the cat still poorly, we started bathing the eye ourselves with salty warm water when it flares up. It helps, but the cat looks very sad for a bit, like Scampi.
