Car Park Companion

Posted on Thu 8th Dec, 2005, 9:40pm

ISO: 400, Shutter speed: 1/60, Aperture: f/4,
Camera: Canon EOS 20D, Flash: None, Cropping: None,
Lens: Sigma 18-50mm F2.8 EX DC, Focal length: 18mm,
Captured: 3rd December 2005, 3:57pm,

This is the partner to yesterday's shot. I thought it'd be good to have them on subsequent days as a pair. I've just spent absolutely aaaages processing this shot so if you don't like it I don't wanna know.

I decided to experiment with doing each bit of the picture seperately, working in 'panels', type thing. I basically drew lots of little feathered selections and adjusted the levels for each panel until I thought they looked right.

Interestingly this looked much better on an image that already had contrast applied than it did to the plain, unprocessed picture. I tried both methods and working directly on the original pixels just looked incredibly dull. It was only when I started doing the same thing on the version I'd already processed in RawShooter Essentials that it began to look snappy.

Anyway enough geeky photographic talk. Either you like it or you don't. I was joking when I said I didn't want to know if you hated it. Genuine feedback's always a good thing in my opinion so let me have it.

Yes. Good & dramatic. Set piece from the Bill [the early years].

I think this might be my favourite in your blog so far. Im loving the lighting/shadows coming off and from inside the glass tower block, it really sets the scene.

Great shot, love all the graffiti on the staircase, and the contrast is great.
