Untitled #72

Posted on Wed 21st Nov, 2007, 12:02am

ISO: 100, Shutter speed: 1/500, Aperture: f/8,
Camera: Canon EOS 20D, Flash: None, Cropping: None,
Lens: Canon EF 35mm f/1.4L, Focal length: 35mm,
Captured: 11th November 2007, 1:55pm,

First things first - the tilt... I tried processing this shot with a perfectly level horizon and it wasn't the same at all, nowhere near in fact. This photo has to have the tilt to work properly IMO. I don't know why, I just know it looks terrible when clinically straight.

Secondly, what is it? Well I think it's some kind of truck trailer type thing but I'm not 100% sure. I do know that this is the only angle where I thought it looked photogenic.

This series gets better and better as you add more to it. I wish I could do more series', this is usually down to me getting 2-3 good images from every 50! I can see what you mean with the horizon, this probably has something to do with the slouchy posture of the foreground object, the wonky horizon sort of carries on that theme.

I also agree about the horizon. Best thing are the chains anchoring the "thing" to the beach to prevent it from moving.

The wonky horizon doesn't feel wrong here. The desaturated colours really sum up the recent weather too. Nice.

The horizon doesn't bother me, I agree with Milou - the chains are making the shot.
