Monitoring You

Posted on Fri 2nd Dec, 2005, 5:32pm

ISO: 1600, Shutter speed: 1/60, Aperture: f/2.8,
Camera: Canon EOS 20D, Flash: None, Cropping: None,
Lens: Canon 100mm f/2.8 Macro USM, Focal length: 100mm,
Captured: 2nd December 2005, 0:20am,

This is the same shot as yesterday but photographed off my screen using the macro lens. Despite being the same picture I think it has quite a different feel to it. A CCTV kinda vibe. Whereas yesterday's shot made him look a bit bemused and world-weary, this one makes him look more sinsiter.

The shallow depth of field is deliberate. I took some flat-on to the screen, so the whole frame was focused the same, but this one looked better. Having that focus stripe across the eyes and nose brings it out more, in my opinion. I toyed with it in black and white but it didn't really add anything.

Hmmm... Perhaps I shouldn't have done it then. Apologies if the chap in the photo ever reads this. It wasn't intentional.
