Street Portraits?

Posted on Fri 25th Nov, 2005, 6:57pm

ISO: 400, Shutter speed: 1/200, Aperture: f/4,
Camera: Canon EOS 20D, Flash: None, Cropping: Medium,
Lens: Canon 100mm f/2.8 Macro USM, Focal length: 100mm,
Captured: 25th November 2005, 1:48pm,

I know I go on about how I'm not 100% happy with shots quite often but this time it doesn't matter. I'm using this post to put forward an idea and see what you think.

Quite a few photographers take portraits of people they meet while out taking photos (Rich's entry from the other day being a good example of this) but they usually talk to them a bit and find out something about them.

I like this approach, I've done it a couple of times myself and I'm sure I'll do it again but I also quite like the idea of just taking random portraits of people I'll never know. It means there's less to write about and less background to the shot but it's an idea that appeals.

The above shot fits into this category and was taken while messing about with the new lens on my lunch break today. The photo's not as sharp as it ought to be but as I said, I'm using it to put forward the idea, really.

Anyway I'm off. Have a good weekend all. See you next week.
