Safe Passage

Untitled #33

Posted on Wed 15th Nov, 2006, 5:34pm

ISO: 400, Shutter speed: 1/200, Aperture: f/4,
Camera: Canon EOS 20D, Flash: Yes, Cropping: None,
Lens: Canon EF 35mm f/1.4L, Focal length: 35mm,
Captured: 11th November 2006, 1:53pm,

I really liked this when I first saw it. I thought it was a bit arty and had a sense of suspense about it.

Now I'm not so sure about it. On second viewing, it seems to have lost a lot of appeal for me.

I'm still glad I didn't go overboard trying to brighten the main subject and I think the backlighting on the left side of his face is nice but... I dunno... I'm gonna shut up now.

Suspense or not, I really like the layers of greys/white. I think these types of shots can be ruined by making them over-contrasty - yet another thing you seem to always get right.

These are the same guys I caught on my visit too.

Those guys certainly looked as though they knew what they were doing. I was speaking to another old git at the time, going off down memory lane about how we did it when we were young. Why, just the other day... Anyway, nicely caught pivotal moment.

Heh. I get that.

Personally think these kind of shots are you best ones, really captures the moment.

I used to be able to pull better wheelies than this on my BMX! Nice overall contrast and shading to it all Jamey.

Prefer the other shot from the previous day. This just doesn't have any feeling to it, in my eyes.

The slight blur on the main subject is pushing my eye to the guy in the background on the bike. Good choice for B&W though.
