Gone Quiet

Posted on Fri 30th Jun, 2006, 6:50pm

ISO: 100, Shutter speed: 1/80, Aperture: f/4,
Camera: Canon EOS 20D, Flash: None, Cropping: None,
Lens: Canon EF 50mm f/1.8, Focal length: 50mm,
Captured: 26th June 2006, 1:22pm,

Here's the partner to yesterday's and the one I like best of the two. The bottom of the image looks grainy but it's just dirt on the amplifier. I guess I should've cleaned it first :)

Jamey, is that Leeming's new HiFi system?

Jamey, Fri 30th Jun, 2006, 7:38pm
Heh, could be.

I've seen a few shots lately with a stack of noise/grain and they've worked well. I agree with jt in that it looks good with the dirt on.

Jamey, Fri 30th Jun, 2006, 10:40pm
I must admit that I'm a fan of noise/grain but not the noise you get from high-ISO digital captures. Analogue film noise looks great and the noise you can add in Photoshop looks much closer to that than sensor noise does. Next time I post an ISO 1600 shot I might try to add Photoshop noise over the top of the sensor noise to see if it actually looks nicer. I suspect it will work better in black and white than colour.

Oh, this looks so much like part of the stereo my husband brought into our marriage.

Leeming's stereo cost £1,000s - he needed ot so he could hear each bird twitter on his Crowded House albums.

We could have these 2 up in the kitchen. They've got a great retro feel. Yes, in the pink kitchen! :-)
