The Look

Posted on Fri 12th May, 2006, 2:27pm

ISO: 100, Shutter speed: 1/400, Aperture: f/4,
Camera: Canon EOS 20D, Flash: None, Cropping: Minor,
Lens: Canon 100mm f/2.8 Macro USM, Focal length: 100mm,
Captured: 2nd May 2006, 1:44pm,

Apologies for posting such a muted image on such a bright, sunny Friday afternoon. I'm afraid I don't have anything more colourful processed at present.

This shot doesn't make much sense on it's own. It's intended as a partner to the shot I'm going to post tomorrow, which will hopefully add a bit of story to this one.

The thing I like about this is that even though you can't see the face of the guy on the left, I get a strong sense that he disapproves of the other guy. And I really like the expression the other guy has. Sort of apologetic but trying to protect himself or hide himself away. Anyway tomorrow's shot should make it a bit clearer.

really nice composition and i can really feel that guys 'stare' if ya get me, sharpness is good on the left side looks like you chose just the right aperture

I wish I could say I chose that aperture. Truth is, I generally wander round with the camera in Av mode @ f/4 and forget about it. Sometimes f/2.8 if it's a grey day... With that lens, anyway.

It's too da... ;) Nice shot and nice muted processing, I like the colour on the bench they are sat on for some wierd reason, but the darkness in the top right is a bit off putting as there is the lightness / whiteness of the billboard below it.

Good spot. The vignette's been a bit harsh to that corner. I should've painted it out a bit. CBA to do it now though. Tomorrow's is the main one.

One in the light - one in the shadow.....

great work with this shot... The hands a bit distraction looks too strong and the lighting on it seems a little off, did you have to work on it much?? Great DOF and I actually rather like the feel to it. Interested to see tomorrows now! I can never hold back my preferred images! I always put them on first!!!

I agree that the hand's a bit distracting but I thought it was a welcome distraction because it had a bit of character, as far as hands go. All I really did to it was burn it a bit.

Lovely shot. That guy looks like he's about to get up and slap the other guy silly. The chap looking all sullen makes me feel sad for him :( great shot.

The woman is getting in the way a bit for me. Nice shot though.
