Well this is the first shot from the trip to New York. It was taken from the back of the Staten Island Ferry and although it doesn't look like a close-up, it was done with the new 35mm lens, so I can assure you the birds were close enough.

We took the ferry in the evening and there was a lovely orange glow to the light. If anyone else is planning on going, I'd definitely recommend doing it at sundown. The view is beautiful.

I'd just like to say thank you to everyone who has left comments since I've been away. I'll get round to returning the favour soon, when I'm less jetlagged.

Fantatic "orange" seagull really close to you. On the other hand i don't enjoy the sky. It's too dark for me. Welcome back Jamey.
