Erol's Cafe

Posted on Tue 14th Mar, 2006, 5:45pm

ISO: 100, Shutter speed: 1/20, Aperture: f/5.6,
Camera: Canon EOS 20D, Flash: None, Cropping: Minor,
Lens: Sigma 18-50mm F2.8 EX DC, Focal length: 33mm,
Captured: 12th march 2006, 4:35pm,

This was taken at the same time as yesterday's, but looking over the other side of the footbridge. It's nowhere near as good but I'm fairly low on shots to post at the moment. Hopefully my impending trip to New York will produce a decent stockpile.

I guess this shot is also quite similar to Just Passin' Thru, but again not as good. However the children passing by in this one were almost accidental. I was trying to get the canopy of the cafe but I'm glad the kids are in the shot as it would be pretty boring without them, I think.

I like this shot, especially the processing on it all the colours of the shops etc are very very nice and almost unsaturated but not... What section of the "bible" is the bit where to get the colours like this Jamey?

Do you mean Martin Evening's book? If so, it's not covered as such. Basically you just play about with the individual RGB curves, rather than the overall curve. I tend to use a three-point curve on each channel and just mess around.

i really like this, the street almost looks like a small model

Hi Jamie, I love these colors and the softness. Do you do that with a blur/fade?

Jonathan, Tue 14th Mar, 2006, 8:05pm
There is something about this picture and your previous one that I really like. The colour and style just look awesome. Works really well.

Chris - I know what you mean. Same with yesterday's too, IMO... Danielle - The colours are done via the process I mentioned above. The softness is a selectively blurred duplicate layer at low opacity. Thanks for the kind words everyone.

Was this early in the morning. All the shops are closed? Nice view.

It was on a Sunday afternoon, although on that street it's hard to tell if the shops are closed for the day or whether they're closed permanently.
